1.     Subjects
The subject of a sentence is a noun, a person, place, thing, idea, or feeling.  The subject often, but not always, comes at the beginning of the sentence.  The subject can be more than one noun.

2.     Verbs
Verbs are action words. Every sentence has at least one verb.  There can be more than one.

3.     Objects
A sentence can have more than one noun.  While a subject performs an action, an object is a noun that has action performed on it.  The object usually comes after the verb.

4.     Modifiers
Another very common sentence element is modifiers.  Modifiers use adjectives or adverbs to describe, define, limit, or modify nouns or verbs.  A modifier can be a single word or a phrase.

Example of  Subject, Verb, Object and Modifiers :
a)      I ate dinner in the dark.
b)      Dave almost wrote a letter to his mother.
c)      The fat trumpet player played slow jazz.
d)     I drank coffee with my boyfriend
e)      She left her scraft at Bekasi Station

Subject – Verb Agreement
Subject verb agreement refers to the fact that the subject and verb in a sentence must agree in number. In other words, they both must be singular or they both must be plural. You can’t have a singular subject with a plural verb or vice versa. The tricky part is in knowing the singular and plural forms of subjects and verbs. Example:
a)      My sister or my brother is meeting you at the airport.
b)      Neither Carla nor Jeff is available to meet you at the airport.
c)      She and her family are at Disney World.
d)     His teammates or the athlete sprints every day.
e)      The birthday boy, along with his friends, is anxious for the party to stop.
f)       Mary doesn’t care for pizza.
g)      Neither knows how the competition will end.
h)      There are many paths to success.
i)        Basketballs roll across the floor.
j)        I don’t understand the assignment.

Pronoun
pronoun is a word that is used instead of a noun or noun phrase. Pronouns refer to either a noun that has already been mentioned or to a noun that does not need to be named specifically.
The most common pronouns are the personal pronouns, which refer to the person or people speaking or writing (first person), the person or people being spoken to (second person), or other people or things (third person). Example:
a)      We are going on vacation.
b)      Don’t tell me that you can’t go with us.
c)       Anybody who says it won’t be fun has no clue what they are talking about.
